Minister Manastirliu: The College of Europe will open its doors in Tirana

During the inspection with the Rector Mogherini in the “Liria” building, the future site of the College of Europe in Tirana, Manastirliu asserted that a new era is commencing in Albanian higher education.

The College of Europe is ready to open its doors for the first time in Tirana, welcoming the first 31 students selected to follow the cycle of master’s studies. Everything has been ready to welcome students from Albania, the region, and Europe since the last week of August, thus marking the beginning of a new chapter in higher education in Albania.
The Minister of Education and Sports, Ogerta Manastirliu, together with the Rector of the College of Europe, Federica Mogherini, visited the first home of the College of Europe in the “Liria” Building.

Ogerta Manastirliu, Minister of Education and Sports, and Federica Mogherini, Rector of the College of Europe, paid a visit to the college’s first home, the “Liria” Building.

During this visit, Minister Manastirliu toured the college’s modern facilities and talked with administrative staff. They have already begun work to ensure a successful academic year for students from Albania, the region, and Europe in the College of Europe’s inaugural year in Tirana.
“We are proud that we were able to complete the ambitious project of the College of Europe in Tirana in such a short period of time, paving the way for a new academic offer towards European Albania 2030,” said Minister of Education and Sports Ogerta Manastirliu.

Meanwhile, development on the College of Europe’s new construction project continues, with implementation slated to begin in 2024. This project will provide increased didactic capacity, contemporary facilities, and flexible spaces, ensuring an excellent atmosphere for students and young professionals.

The College of Europe, one of Europe’s oldest and most prestigious institutions founded with the goal of encouraging European collaboration and integration, has played an important part in the development of the European Union.

The establishment of the first campus in Tirana not only represents strategic cooperation between Albania and European institutions, but it also creates numerous opportunities for students and professors from the Western Balkans, the European Union, and elsewhere. The study programs offered by the College of Europe in Tirana meet the same requirements as those at the College of Brugge, ensuring high-quality teaching and a diverse and international environment for students.
